Questions
Short answers. The docs have the details.
Who is this for?
Anyone who passes federal grant money on to other organizations: state agencies, counties, cities, universities and nonprofits. Regulations call you a pass-through entity.
Does this replace our subrecipient monitoring?
No. It covers one part of it: keeping up with Single Audits and the dates that follow. Risk assessments, site visits and reviewing the audit itself stay with you.
Where does the data come from?
The Federal Audit Clearinghouse, run by the U.S. General Services Administration. Each result links to the report it came from. Subrecipient Watch isn't affiliated with the clearinghouse.
How current is it?
We reload every subrecipient on your list daily, and you can check again at any time. The clearinghouse only has an audit once it has been submitted and accepted.
An organization shows no audit. Is that a problem?
Not necessarily. Organizations that spend under the threshold, currently $1,000,000 a year in federal awards, generally don't need a Single Audit. We can't see what they spent in a year with no audit, so we suggest asking for a written statement.
Does "past the usual deadline" mean they broke a rule?
No. It means an audit is usually due by now and isn't in the clearinghouse. They may have an extension, or may not need an audit this year. Treat it as a reason to ask.
How do you know a finding is ours?
We compare each finding's program with the Assistance Listing numbers on your list, and the pass-through name in the audit with the names you go by. It can be wrong in either direction, so read the audit. How matching works.
Do you send email alerts?
Not yet. New audits, statuses and deadlines show when you sign in, and through the API. Email alerts are the next thing we plan to build.
Can we pay by invoice or purchase order?
Yes. Contact us with your plan and your organization's details.
What happens when the trial ends?
You move to the Free plan unless you choose a paid one. Nothing is charged and nothing is deleted. If your list is over the Free limit, the rest stays saved, and comes back when you choose a plan.
Is there an API?
Yes, for customers on a contract. See the API docs.
What about tribal audits?
Tribal organizations can choose not to make their reporting package public. We show that an audit isn't fully public and don't show its findings. They're required to send the package directly to their pass-through entities, so ask them for it.
